In July of 1997, I was privileged to witness the first sailing in over a hundred years of  'Old Ironsides', the USS Constitution. The etching depicts the moment that Constitution has cast off the last line from her tugs, signaled by the firing of one of her guns. The sails are being unfurled and she is beginning to sail free. It was an incredibly stirring moment as the horns and bells of the thousands of craft in the spectator fleet answered her gun.
