ON THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII
CORDIALLY INVITES YOU TO
It has been nearly 30
years since I first visited Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Immediately capturing my imagination with its powerful raw beauty, the
park’s capacity to ‘wow’ and inspire has only intensified over the
years. I’m fascinated by how the Earth moves. In every direction one
looks are the rhythms and flows, and vivid contrasts, of an incredibly
dynamic and living landscape. Lava flows and pit craters, Ohia and
Apapane, massive cloud formations and volcanic plumes, all of these and
more inspire me and will hopefully continue to do so for many years
ahead. Nearly all the works in the exhibition were painted outdoors
directly from life, ‘en plein air’, or in my studio using the field
studies as model. Thank you for visiting and I hope you'll enjoy the
paintings. Aloha. ~Robert Weiss
